(OLD) Join the 1001 Books Challenge here! (SEE NEW SIGN-UP THREAD)

ETA: Do not sign up here! Sign up in the most recent sign-up thread. (See Challenge sign-up thread in the Links list.)

This is the thread to post your intention to join the challenge. If you post here, I will give you a book from those yet to be assigned and add your name to the list next to your assigned book.

Also, don't forget to join this community!

First round of assignments will be made on January 1, 2011!

(You can still join after that date, but I'll probably do new batches of assignments weekly.)

This is also where you can post a list of all the books from the list that you've already read, if you like. (Note that this does not necessarily mean you won't be given a book you've already read -- see The Rules.)

I'll start it off:

1. Never Let Me Go – Kazuo Ishiguro
19. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – Mark Haddon
67. House of Leaves – Mark Z. Danielewski
72. Cryptonomicon – Neal Stephenson
125. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle – Haruki Murakami (reading currently)
227. Watchmen – Alan Moore & David Gibbons
241. Contact – Carl Sagan

320. Interview With the Vampire – Anne Rice
379. The Godfather – Mario Puzo
389. 2001: A Space Odyssey – Arthur C. Clarke
413. The Crying of Lot 49 – Thomas Pynchon
451. Catch-22 – Joseph Heller
494. The Lord of the Rings – J.R.R. Tolkien (technically I only read the first volume)
539. I, Robot – Isaac Asimov
547. Nineteen Eighty-Four – George Orwell
574. The Little Prince – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
610. The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien
623. At the Mountains of Madness – H.P. Lovecraft
747. Tarzan of the Apes – Edgar Rice Burroughs
780. Heart of Darkness – Joseph Conrad
781. The Hound of the Baskervilles – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
804. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
821. The Mayor of Casterbridge – Thomas Hardy
831. Treasure Island – Robert Louis Stevenson
854. Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There – Lewis Carroll
867. Crime and Punishment – Fyodor Dostoevsky
868. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll
876. Great Expectations – Charles Dickens
886. Madame Bovary – Gustave Flaubert
906. The Count of Monte-Cristo – Alexandre Dumas
938. Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen

I'm sure most of you can beat 32 out of 1001, so don't be embarrassed.

(ETA two books I forgot I'd read. :D)
